Get Ready for the Queens World Film Festival

Independent and international films will be showcased at Queens World Film Festival this March. This event has been running since 2010 and has featured films across genres such as drama, animation, documentary, and short narrative features.

Things to Do in Queens: Experience the Movies

This film festival is a great way to get out and get a taste of independent movie-making. Feel all the fun and excitement of experiencing the movies, especially when you take a seat to get a taste of the festival’s customary emphasis on innovative and provocative films.

Coming Up

This year’s event will include the addition of family-friendly films along with other regulars, such as LGBTQ and animated offerings. Somewhere between 80 and 100 movies will be screened during the festival in total.

Festival Events

The festival events will kick off with a party on Opening Night at the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI). The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception, will honor filmmaker and artist Julie Dash, and will feature an “opening night sampler” of past films that screened at the festival, including short narrative and animated films.

For the rest of the festival, films will be screened in themed “blocks” which will include topics like “Nepal 3.0,” “Chiller Thriller,” “Love Triangles,” “Outsiders,” and more.

Show Times

Film show times and screening blocks will vary each day of the festival. You can catch screenings at both MoMI (in the Redstone and Bartoff rooms) and at Kaufman Astoria Studios’ Zukor Screening Room.

While checking out the festival, stay at Queens, NY hotels like Courtyard New York LaGuardia Airport by Marriott. A stay with us is a great addition to a fun week at the movies, not to mention while you’re experiencing things to do in Queens.
