Flushing Meadows Corona Park blooms with beauty in these warmer months, making it the perfect time to get outside. Once a swamp, it’s now the biggest park in Queens and offers a diversity of trails for walking, biking, and more.
A Variety of Activities Are Waiting at Flushing
Flushing Meadows Corona Park offers history, sites, and attractions for visitors of all ages.
Some notable attractions include:
- BBQ areas throughout the park
- Two lakes
- Miniature golf
- Areas for baseball
- 6 different playgrounds
- Botanical gardens
- And an art and science museum.
The park also offers a recreational complex that features a pool and skating rink. Pool & Rink hours vary, but general building hours are the following:
- 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday - Friday
- 9 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday
- 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Sunday
A membership is required to access the Pool & Rink facilities. Annual memberships for recreation centers with pools cost $150 for adults and $25 for seniors. Membership is free for anyone under the age of 18. As of July 1, 2013, memberships cost $25 for young adults between the ages of 18 and 24.
Visitors can also check out the Queens Zoo, located on the Corona side of the Park, which features an extensive array of attractions, such as a duck pond and the breathtaking geodesic-dome aviary. Some other attractons are:
- The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center which is the current venue for the US Open tennis tournament
- Citi Field which is the home of the New York Mets
- New York Hall of Science
- The Queens Museum of Art
- The Queens Theatre in the Park
- New York State Pavilion
The Park closes at 9 p.m. and admission fees may vary depending on the event you choose to participate in within the park.
